Dakar moon

Nog een keer een song van Baaba Maal, een zanger/muzikant uit Senegal.

Over Dakar zegt hij: "In Senegal we have these religious parties, with music all night. One of these was happening next to where Barry (guitarplayer of the band) was staying. He said that when you look at the moon in Dakar, it is like you can tell the history of the entire country. The next day Barry came to my house and he was playing all these chords that were a consequence of his fascination with the moon. When you are in Senegal, the sky, the stars and the moon seem to be very, very close to you. It's like the environment, the people, their homes, the cities and the elements of the sky are all part of each other. That's what this song is about."

Zijn cd Television is zeker een aanrader en vandaag mijn muzikale begeleider.
